Voter
Service
The LWV of Oregon
serves voters by providing free, nonpartisan Voters'
Guides that include audio, Spanish and easy-to-read versions.
In addition, we train speakers to address election issues
at community events and schools, provide candidate and ballot
measure forums, and coordinate the Oregon
Student Mock Election to prepare future voters. The LWV
also works to protect every citizen in the right
to vote.

Accountable
Government
The LWV of Oregon
observes and reports on statewide public meetings, including
the Legislature,
to remind our government that they are accountable to the
people that elect them. We continually work to increase openness
in government and citizen access to the decision-making process.
We lobby on issues on which we have positions.

Quality
Education
K-12:
The LWV of Oregon believes each child should be provided with
equal, adequate education, stably financed by the state, with
local control of educational programs and local funding alternatives.
Postsecondary: The LWV of Oregon believes the primary goal
of Oregon's public postsecondary education should be to provide
a broad spectrum of higher education for professional, vocational,
and personal enrichment to all qualified and motivated individuals.

Protection
of Natural Resources
The LWV believes
that natural resources should be managed as interrelated parts
of life-supporting ecosystems. Resources should be conserved
and protected to assure their future availability. Pollution
of these resources should be controlled in order to preserve
the physical, chemical and biological integrity of ecosystems
and to protect public health. In Oregon, the LWV works on
issues such as air quality, off-shore and coastal management,
energy conservation, nuclear energy, hazardous materials,
land use planning, parks, seismic risks, solid waste, and
water policy, planning, quality, and resources.
