"I took the lessons learned from League and used them to prepare for the election and serving in this office. League teaches us to get the facts, dig for good information, show up and observe meetings to learn more about issues and how they are being addressed, and to seek various points of view before reaching a decision. I worked on the Polk County Government study, among others, and served on the Board as Treasurer, Membership (with Joy Sowle), VP, and President. Thanks to my League experience, I felt more prepared to seek office and have been able to 'hit the ground running' since being sworn in on January 2nd. I am very grateful for what League has taught me."
