EVAN TUCKER (he/him)

Youth Voter Strategist
Youth Voter Strategist

Evan Tucker is a Political Science major at the University of Oregon. He joined LWVOR Youth Council because of his passion for human rights and democracy that was instilled from a young age, for which he credits his mother, a 2nd grade teacher always valuing equity and inclusion in her classroom who inspired him to change the world.

Evan has been a lifelong powerful force in his hometown of Grants Pass, Oregon, leading multiple movements of nonviolent protest and resistance to fight for human rights and democracy along the way. He earned the Oregon Safe Schools Award along with Deenie Bulyalert, a fellow Youth Council member, for their activism at Grants Pass High School fighting for LGBTQ+ rights and shared this experience with Senator Ron Wyden from Oregon, lobbying him on LGBTQ+ rights and the filibuster.

His first year in Eugene, Evan was involved in the University of Oregon Young Democratic Socialists of America (YDSA) Club and attended the 2023 YDSA Winter Conference in Chicago. In March of 2023, he earned the title of Human Rights Fellow when he studied abroad, learning from University of Oxford professors and leading world-wide activists how to more effectively fight for human rights, which he hopes to share with young voters across Oregon and the nation.

This year, he started as the fall 2023 Intern for City Club of Eugene, as well as being the Civic Engagement Program Assistant for the Holden Center for Leadership and Community Engagement on campus.
