IMPORTANT FRAUD ALERT — PLEASE READ AND SHARE
We have been made aware of fraudulent text messages being sent to members of our organization by someone impersonating the LWVOR President. The individual is using my name (Mark Kendall) and claiming that recipients are communicating with my assistant. The scammer then asks recipients to purchase gift cards or send money.
These messages are fraudulent. They are not from me, my assistant, or anyone authorized to act on behalf of the League.
Please take the following precautions:
Do not respond to these text messages or engage with the sender.
Do not purchase gift cards, send money, or provide financial or personal information in response to any such request.
Do not click on links or share verification codes sent by the individual.
Report and block the phone number sending the messages.
If you have already responded, purchased gift cards, or shared financial information, contact your financial institution or gift card issuer immediately. Preserve the messages and report the incident to the appropriate authorities.
Please remember that no one representing the League will ever unexpectedly contact you by text to request gift cards, money, or personal financial assistance.
If you receive a questionable communication appearing to come from me or another League leader, please verify it through a known, established League email address or telephone number before taking any action.
I regret the inconvenience and concern this impersonation may cause. Thank you for looking out for one another and helping to protect our members and our organization.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at 503-581-5722.
In League,

Mark Kendall, President League of Women Voters of Oregon
